ROTM: A Letter to a Friend

"   My dear friend,

    It's me, 1.5. I wrote this letter to tell you that I'm sorry - I'm sorry for everything that's happened, and probably what is to come, now that I have passed. 29 already knows that she will be taking over my position. In time, I would like for all things to return to normal. In my final days, I've written and had letters delivered to all of my friends and coworkers explaining how my time is about to run out, and how I'd like them to run things once I am gone. When you find out the true reason, you may or may not want to tell them all what really happened. On a less morbid, depressing note, I have a favor to ask of you. It's an unbelievably large thing to ask someone, but I swear on every soul in this land that you will not have to do it alone. But, please, it would mean the world if you could help me. I think it's safe to say that this is my final wish.

    There is something very important I need you to take care of, quite literally. To do so, I have some directions for you to follow. They will lead you to the real cause of my death.

    If you are standing in my office, please exit the room. Turn to your right, and go all the way down to the end of the hall. The last door on the left side opens into a broom closet, filled with cleaning supplies - at least, that's what it will be to everyone else who doesn't know. Turn the light on. There should be a small bookshelf on the back wall. It is very lightweight, and if you move it to the side, you will find that there is a door behind it. Unlock the door with the key inside this letter's envelope, take a nice, deep breath or two, and you will see the real reason. 
   


     I know you are probably already upset upon hearing about my passing. That alone is a lot to take in, but I can assure you that you will not be alone in this endeavor. 30, of course, will be there to help you, but I'm sure you already know that he'll be upset, and probably very distant for a while. 2 and 15 will also be there if there are any concerns about their health, or just to help out in general. Another person you can call upon is 31. She already has previous experience, and may be a good person to have around, especially if you and 30 need advice. I feel horrible asking for help on this, I really do. It's the biggest favor I can ever ask of you - all I really want is for them to be okay. Please, let them have good lives. At this point, it is all I could ever really hope for.

    PS... when leaving the room, there is one other door at the end of the hall. It is locked, but you can find the key in the office.
